Employment Experience

Peak Potentials Training - (Webmaster & In-House Graphic Design) - September 2004 – November 2008

I was initially brought onto the Peak Potentials Team as a network administrator, setting up our ticket printing networks all around North America. I soon found myself being unchallenged on a regular basis so I applied to be the in-house Webmaster / Web Developer. Upon being accepted for this position I had a HUGE amount of new responsibilities come my way.

My main responsibly was the maintenance/development for all of our public facing websites. This included: (but wasn't limited to)

  • Website template development (and design)
  • Email template development (and design)
  • Banner ad design
  • Product photography
  • Contact form development
  • Search engine optimization on all public facing sites
  • W3c certified HTML and CSS pages
  • Being sure there is uniformity and consistency throughout the sites
  • Fixing errors on a wide range of operating systems and browsers
  • Overseeing email/web ad campaigns on the marketing team

I work very well with my colleagues and have been told I'm a delight to have around with the charisma and fun I bring with me everywhere I go.

I take pride in the work I do and I respect the people I work with,

Apecake Media - (Photographer & Graphic Designer) - April 2009 – August 2009

With a strong and confident background in art from a young age my talents in both natural & digital mediums have really been taken to the next level in the last few years.

I was the 2nd lead photographer for the team, he also does a vast majority of the photo editing. I was the lead graphic designer & web developer for ApeCake Media.

My clear and fresh vision brings the highest quality to every project.

Docofolio - (Freelance Photographer & Graphic Designer) - August 2009 – Current

After leaving Apecake Media I decided to try my hand at freelancing where I feel my craft has truly been taken to the next level.

Just to name a few of my clients to date as a freelancer: The Georgia Straight, The Westender, Industrial Brand, Outline Graphics, Cymax, Whirling Media and Signup Systems.

Recomendations

"Ryan Connors was young and impressive when I worked with him in 2006-2007. One day I asked him if he was aware of where he'd be at 40, should he continue to hone his skills in the areas of web technology, design and photography. He answered matter-of-factly that he was. I was always relieved if Ryan was part of any strategic meeting because whatever went down, I knew he’d say something trenchant, funny, or both. I hope I get more opportunities to work with him and I hope I still know him when he’s 40."

Janice Bennett, Editor & Market Research, Peak Potentials Training

"Ryan has a rare mix of better than average technical skills for web development work combined with an exceptional creative capacity. His design work is always informed by the hottest trends on the web and yet built using sound HTML and CSS so that site modifications can easily be made later with minimal effort. He has very advanced skills with photography and a truly remarkable sense of attractive color combinations. All told, Ryan produces well rounded outstanding work. I have subcontracted to him since leaving the organization where we worked together and would recommend him for any webmastering or website development work requiring technical ability, but even more so if your organization places a premium on edgy, creative, design."
